Get to know the team behind Ognomy on a personal level
Tannay Chandhok, Head of Product Development
Tannay joined Ognomy right when we went public and has enjoyed working to make Ognomy easy to use for everyone. Tannay is a Software Engineer from Buffalo, NY living in Boston. When he is not working, he spends his time playing chess, reading, exercising and watching movies. He looks forward to the future of Ognomy and making it as simple as possible for patients and physicians alike.
What did you do before you joined Ognomy?
Before Ognomy I was a student at Northeastern University, pursuing a degree in Bioengineering with a minor in Computer Science.
What is your role at Ognomy?
Head of Product Development, which includes product innovation and development strategy
Why did you join Ognomy?
Prior to the creation of Ognomy, I worked for our CEO Dr. Rifkin on another sleep apnea endeavor and have since been looking for an opportunity to work with him again. I also think the company is the perfect mix between my two fields of study.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Being able to interact with every facet of the company. This comes from the start-up environment here at Ognomy, where the departments discuss their projects daily and receive feedback from one another. This provides me with an understanding of each department’s goals, helping me best plan the future development of the platform and produce a product backed by Ognomy as a whole.
What has surprised you the most about working in Telehealth?
Since I’ve started working in the space, it appears that while there are numerous other platforms, many are the same, and very few specialize in a particular field. I believe this is what has allowed Ognomy to come this far—having nearly no competitors who specialize in sleep apnea.
What’s your one prediction for the future of Telehealth?
The current pandemic has greatly accelerated the rate of transition to Telehealth. Since this large scale adoption has occurred, patients seem to enjoy this new method of diagnosis/treatment and will prefer to stick with it rather than reverting back to the traditional brick and mortar practices.
What do you like to do when you’re not in the office?
I spend a good portion of my time studying React, the language used to develop Ognomy as it is not my primary language. I also spend time reading, working out, snowboarding when the weather allows and sleeping of course!
Dogs or Cats?
Facebook or Instagram?
If I had to choose, Instagram.
Coke or Pepsi?
iOS or Android?
While android affords its users with its limitless variation potential, I do prefer iOS due to their UI and the intricately connected apple ecosystem.
